What Has He Got In His Pocketses?

A question posed by Brigid the fair recently. I still have no digital camera, but I’ll bite, I’ll just do it in words.

Wallet
A Swiss Card in the wallet
CRKT Van Hoy Snaplock
Home, office, and car keys
2 GB flashdrive on the keychain
A Victronox Classic SD knife on the keychain
Handkerchief
Assorted change
8 x 57 mm cartridge
Fountain pen
Box of matches
Passport
Sunglasses

So, what’s in YOUR pockets?

  1. Lucky you, being male, your pants are designed with pockets. (Which is why I only buy men’s pants)

  2. Most everything sounds normal, but why a Mauser round? I thought the “in” round was a 7.62 X 39. A retro fashion statement maybe? 🙂

I don’t OWN anything that shoots 7.62 x 39. I’m looking at an SKS, but I think my next purchase will be in .303 British

  3. Do you have a Mosin-Nagant yet? You need to add that to your list. Inexpensive to buy and shoot.

I have a Mauser and a Mosin. Now all I need is an Enfield and a Springfield.

No, I don’t. I want a battle rifle from the major combatants of WWII–M1903, M1, SMLE, K98, Moisin, & the Japanese one that I can’t spell.

But the other mil-surp rifles are just so nice, too.

  4. A passport? In case you have to flee the country suddenly?

  6. Matches? Something you’d like to tell us?

I tend not to carry sharp things in my pockets. Or anything I’m not likely to really need.

Wallet (id, money, credit cards), keys, eye juice (for contact lenses), spare change, reading glasses (Unless the glasses are on my head), handkerchief, pen or two.

With matches and a tea light, I can get a fire going if I need it

  8. Have you ever needed it? I mean, you know, when you weren’t out camping or bar-b-queing or whatever? I can definitely see carrying things in my car (knife, a few tools, flares, etc), but I don’t bother carrying a knife every day on the off chance that I’ll have an emergency hangnail. The weight and space vs need ratio just doesn’t work out so much.

You must live a more McGyver life than I do! 🙂

  9. Wallet, keys, little magnetic key fob-thingy that makes my work vehicle work, cellphone, iPod, pen, scissors, frequently a little roll of tape, flashlight, knife.

    I’m ready for anything.

(You carry your passport around? I’m always scared of losing it, I squirrel it away unless I specifically need it.)

  10. Wallet, ID, credit cards, spare check for “we don’t take plastic” emergencies in the wallet, keys, car remote key fob, spare change, pain meds, “nuSkin” (or however it’s spelled; liquid band-aid), small swiss army knife, bigger more useful knife, big mucking knife that doubles as a pry-tool at work (and makes annoying coworkers get twitchy when I pull it out), lip balm, cell phone, and a bluetooth “ear bug” so I don’t have to take the phone out when it rings.

    Crap, I need more pockets….

Good thing I’m not hung up on how my butt looks in skin-tight jeans – can’t wear ’em with all that along for the ride! LOL And I flatly refuse to carry a purse, so if it doesn’t fit into a pocket or hook onto the belt, it doesn’t come with me.
