Knife Meme

As played by Breda, and Tam, and OldNFO, and me. An Opinel #7 knife. Only four parts, total; two of whom move. Carbon steel, simple, and sharp. For the knifeless man is a helpless man, and bugger that.

  1. Good to see someone with an Opinel in this meme. Most of the bloggers who’ve replied have the usual Black Tacticool folders; Og, who started the meme, has an Uncle Henry stockman. At one time I used to carry an Opinel #12 in my pocket; big as it was, it was also very light. Unfortunately I never had any girls ask “Is that an Opinel #12 in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?”

  2. Five, if you count the pivot pin. 😉

The Opinels are wonderful cutters, aren’t they? Those nice, thin carbon steel blades take a great edge.

  3. There’s much to be said for a knife that floats. Also for one that you can find when you drop it. (Camouflage blades never struck me as a good idea.)

  4. Hey, as I explained in my own contribution, I tend to keep my EDC knifes of the “I can afford to lose this” variety. Sure, I’d be unhappy if I lost my Kershaw, but I’d only be out $30 and it holds no sentimental value.

Had the meme been “show your favorite knife”, the outcome would have been significantly different.

    Ooh. That’s a neat idea…

  5. I keep a half-dozen or so of those scattered around the house – been using them for years now.
