About Time

The United States Senate repealed Don’t Ask Don’t Tell. This was the proper result, by the proper process. The law was changed by the legislative branch, and not by the executive branch nor the legislative branch doing an end around. As a (small l) libertarian, and indeed a civil libertarian, I applaud this move.

Many complaints about the repeal of DADT involve living arrangements. I have lived in co-ed housing many times, and I have lived with men who slept with men. I have also dealt with the existence of co-ed bathroom facilities. This does not lead to a hotbed (and I use the term deliberately) of sexual activity. Too much exposure really decreases temptations. It is hard to feel romantic about someone who has just thrown up on your wingtips because she drank too much (Again, I speak from experience).

Sappy Cat Blogging

Filed under: Cat Blogging — williamthecoroner @ 10:17

It’s Friday, so it’s time for SAPPY CAT BLOGGING . Today’s cat, a Russian Blue named Big Bob via Tam, has survived being hit by a car, getting shot, and is FIV positive. He’s missing a leg and a tail, but other than that, he’s OK, and they’re looking to adopt him out.

Shopping Suggestion

As time winds down, ever closer to Christmas, I point you to two shops that have the WtC seal of approval

The first is Halcyon Pottery, selling art you can use. Ceramics of all types, mugs, plates, vases, and whatnot, including games.

The other is 3 Old Broads and Their Stuff. Which is, well, three old broads selling their stuff. You never know.

The Coroner’s 12 Days of Christmas

On the first day of Christmas, the deskmen gave to me, a live one that shouldn’t be here.
On the second day of Christmas, the deskmen gave to me two tortured loves and a live one that shouldn’t be here.
On the third day of Christmas the deskmen gave to me three bleached bones, two tortured loves, and a live one that shouldn’t be here.

You know the drill.

On the twelfth day of Christmas, the deskmen gave to me:

Twelve druggies drugging,
Eleven crackheads piping,
Ten jumpers leaping,
Nine shaken babies,
Eight police shootings
Seven decomps stinking,
Six overlayings,
Five MVAs,
Four working girls,
Three bleached bones,
Two tortured loves,
And a live one who shouldn’t be here!

Hat tip to Robb, Lili, and Doug. I couldn’ta done it without you.
Should I have done this at all, that’s another story.
If it wasn’t for bad taste, I’d have no taste at all.

Graduate School–Final Exam

It’s over. The students are free. Always kind of a bittersweet time, but things must end, and if love something, set it free. If it doesn’t come back, hunt it down and chain it to the basement wall. Or something like that.

Anyway, they all did very well There were some problems, like remembering the volume of an intracranial hemorrhage that was fatal, or what Danny Greene did for a living. But the major information was retained–except for Sol, who forgot that Proof was 1/2 of 1% and a measure of alcohol concentration, so he gets made fun of in public. Neener. Neener.
