Graduate Class #15 Field Trip!

Went to the FBI field office in Cleveland and got the Cook’s Tour.  Starting in the headquarters conference room with a short video, then all the way through the building, including a weapons vault, several cube farms (but with one great view of the lake) a display of old high-tech equipment (including a shoe phone).  Finally to the garage with an up-armoured hummer and the Evidence Response Truck.

The head of the evidence response team gave a presentation.  He hates CSI as much as I do–as anyone in the business.  I was struck again how much like archaeology evidence recovery is.  Many, many techniques are the same, from surface search, to excavation, and dirt screening.

The agents also made a recruiting pitch to my students.  I think they might have some takers.

  1. If nothing else, you got out of the ‘office’ for the day 🙂
