  2. Richard Drew took the photo on 9/11

    The photo went world wide very quickly on 12th Sept 01 but was not used after that date due to self censorship by magazines and newspapers around teh world.

    There is a documentary about the picture and the man in it:

  3. I remember how horrific that felt to me, that at least some of these people made the last decision left to them rather than curl up in that hellhole and die. I hope that they lost consciousness before landing.
