In Which I Make An Observation

Filed under: People who need pianos dropped on them — williamthecoroner @ 16:12

I could continue quite happily, for the rest of my days, if I never hear the song “There’s No-one As Irish As Barack OBama” by the Corrigan Brothers ever again.

And speaking as a person with an Ulster background, I say “Yeah, right.”

The public television stations are also pledging begging, and they have Celtic Women on again for the thousandth time. Now, as readers to this blog know, I have no objections to either women who are celtic  or The Celtic Women, with or without the article, but I’m at the point where I want them actually physically in my living room, singing to me and bringing me whiskey and a fry-up.

Just sayin’

  1. Wow. That was horrible. Thanks for bringing it to my attention. [Eye roll.]

  3. All of them? Simultaneously?

You must be a proud man, Dr. Z.

*unable to contain my jocularity this morning*

  4. I went to see them in concert last month. They lost their appeal to me when they went on to sing remakes of Sting and Phil Collins. I didn’t realize it was “coverband” night (like amateur night at the Apollo).

  5. PS: This band is a little more lively for a night at the pub:

    Beoga

Here’s a video of some Irish dancing to Beoga. I did this for a brief time in college, it’s great fun and a good way to get shin splints (other than running on concrete).

I’d like to see a good Irish band performance like this at Nighttown.

If I had to choose, I’d take the harpist. I’d also leave out the one who is underage.

  7. Oh my goodness. You know, one of these I’ll remember to listen to that little voice that says “self, do you *really* want this in your head?”

    *shudder*

Oh well, not the first time Irish have fallen for lefty nonsense.
