A bleg

Would anyone out there in know where I could get a small (say 15 cm) inexpensive (under 15 dollars) model of a whaleboat?  Or a rowboat? Preferably plastic, as it will come in contact with food.

I know, I know, JFGI.  I did.  There are plenty of really lovely 1/16th or larger scale wooden models of whaleboats.  But I don’t want to build one, and I don’t want a wooden one, and I really don’t feel like spending $150.00 on a gimmick.

I’m open to ideas.

  1. Here’s a couple of ideas:

I did a Google Shopping search for “toy rowboat”, and then “toy plastic rowboat” without the ” so it would look for the words, not the phrase. I’m sure you can find something that will be closer to what you want if you refine your desires a little. (I’m assuming JFGI is “just f’ing google it”)

  2. I can’t imagine that your local railroad hobby supply place wouldn’t have an HO scale kid in a rowboat.

  4. You might try a cake decorating supply place; little boats are a fairly common item.

The PlayMobil pirates have a little rowboat that might work, too: http://www.farmgoodsforkids.com/p-8676-.html

  6. If you find what you are looking for, I’d be careful to make sure it is food safe–especially the ones made in China.

  7. If you aren’t averse to constructing it yourself, Hobby Lobby may have a model of what you’re looking for (and their website has a 40% off coupon).

But you know we’ll want pictures!
