Tribal Warpaint

Filed under: Social Commentary — williamthecoroner @ 11:07

I’ve noticed an upsurgence in different colours of nail varnish recently.  Gunmetal grey, green, blue, etc.

It’s just be me and my pathology background, but green, grey, and blue nail varnish reminds me of the gangrenous limbs I got on the cutting bench.  OK, I’m male so I don’t understand the whole makeup thing at all–unless you’re want to appear under Klieg lights, I get that alright.  I’m not big on nail varnish at all, really, but do you really want to use colours that look like your limb is rotting while it’s still attached to your body?

  1. Oh, I am so amused.
And yes, I think the same thing. That and eyeshadow that makes it look like I got punched in the eye.

  2. I really wish I could access your website from work, instead of right before I go to sleep.

Yeah, all thanks to posts like these. 😉

(You know I’m just giving you a hard time, but still.) 🙂

(And in the nail category, I’ve never mastered the nail painting thing, so I don’t do it. And I can’t stand long nails, so I keep ’em short.)

  3. LOL- Reminds me of the “goth” types… black polish, black eye shadow, black..black…black…

  4. If I’ve got nail polish on, it means I’ve broken that nail pretty far down into the nailbed, and I’m using the polish and several layers of fibrous paper to hold the thing together til it grows out. One bottle lasts me forever 😉

While I like color gunmetal blue, I can see where you might find it rather disconcerting as a nail color choice…
