And I still don’t miss it.
I know that a conservative is a man “standing athwart history, shouting STOP!”(Thanks, Bill) but standards have slipped in the past decades. Not so long ago, a person who made a joke like David Letterman did would have been fired. Now, it appears to be an opportunity for publicity.
Now, if I could only get New Tricks in a format that would play on my DVD player (along with some of the other old BBC shows) I would not NEED a converter box. Hmm.

I live in a house with television. Were it up to me, I’d not have one. I don’t think this makes me conservative so much as it indicates a preference for less passive forms of diversion.
Have you tried searching Hulu.com or Youtube for the shows? Both are getting better about airing whole series.

I do miss the old Sesame Streets, with Mr. Hooper, and some of the old shows from the 70′s. It is kind of hard to find British TV in the US format. And no, they are not on line. Besides, I’m doing better without the time-sink.

Can you not get your DVD player converted to “region free”? Google (or BING) for your model number and “region free”.
Or try playing a “region 2″ disk on your computer.

Not a conservative, generally, but still like not having TV.
Re: DVDs: VLC media player plays all zones on more or less any computer. Dunno anything about actual DVD players tho.
